Answers to the most common questions. If yours isn't here, get in touch — I read every message.
- I forgot my password or PIN.
- On the lock screen, tap “Forgot your credential?” and use the recovery method you set up. Spence Folio cannot reset a password — your files are encrypted with keys only you hold — so without your password, PIN or a recovery method, nobody can open them, including me.
- How do I move my vault to a new iPhone?
- Turn on iCloud backup in the app's settings on your current device. On the new one, choose “Restore from iCloud” when you first open Spence Folio. You'll need your password or your recovery key: a PIN only works on the device where you set it.
- Some photos didn't import.
- Open Activity from the app's menu and tap the import. Every file is listed with its result, and the reason if it didn't arrive; the Verification section checks that each imported file is really in your library.
- Can anyone else see my files?
- No. Spence.Studio runs no servers for the app and never receives your files. They are encrypted on your device, and iCloud backups are encrypted before they leave it.
- Can I keep my password in a password manager?
- Yes. When you set or change your password, your password manager can save it under “Spence Folio”, and it can fill it on the lock screen. Keep your recovery key somewhere separate.
